MOVIE TRAILER – SPIRAL promises an intriguing new direction for the SAW franchise

I’ll be the first to say I;m not a big fan of horror movie reboots in general. There’s tons of IP waiting to be mined before we as an audience need to sit through the umpteenth version of Resident Evil or Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That being said, Spiral, the SAW reboot/sequel directed by franchise veteran Darren Lynn Bousmann, looks like it might be the rare reboot that does something unique and unexpected with familiar beats. Especially with Chris Rock’s great recent dramatic turn in the last season of FX’s Fargo. The new trailer dropped and it looks interesting – which is the first bar a film like this needs to pass. SPIRAL hits theaters in May, check out the trailer below:

Spiral (Lionsgate) – In Theaters 05/14/2021

A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.
